Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using GradeScout, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you should not use the app. These terms apply to all users of GradeScout, including teachers and any administrators managing the platform.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password, and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your details current. You may not share your account credentials with others.

Acceptable use

GradeScout is provided to help teachers grade and give feedback on student writing. You agree to use the service lawfully and only for legitimate educational purposes. You may not upload content that is unlawful, infringes others' rights, or contains malware, nor may you attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.

AI grading & teacher responsibility

GradeScout's scores, feedback, and integrity signals are generated by AI and are meant to support — not replace — professional teacher judgment. A teacher must review all AI output before it informs a student's grade. GradeScout is not liable for grading decisions made based on its output.

Subscriptions & billing

Paid plans are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis through our payment providers (Wix Payments and Stripe). You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges but does not refund the current period. Prices and features are shown on the Pricing page and may change with notice.

Promo codes & gifted subscriptions

Promo codes and gifted subscriptions grant limited-time access under the terms stated when they are issued. Codes are non-transferable and may expire or reach a usage limit.

Intellectual property

You retain ownership of the essays, rubrics, and other content you upload. GradeScout retains rights to the service itself, including its software, design, and brand. You grant us the limited right to process your content solely to provide the grading and analytics features.

Limitation of liability

GradeScout is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GradeScout is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including any grading outcomes or integrity assessments.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
