GradeScout is an AI-powered essay grading assistant for teachers. We take the privacy of educators and their students seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using GradeScout, you agree to the practices described here.
Teacher account data: your name, email address, and authentication details when you create an account. Essay content: scanned images, uploaded PDFs, and typed text you submit for grading, along with the rubrics and standards you configure.Student data: student names you enter are stored only as you provide them; in shared and dashboard views, GradeScout displays initials by default to limit exposure.Payment data: when you subscribe, billing is handled by our payment providers (Wix Payments and Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.
We use your data to grade essays against your chosen rubric, generate feedback and integrity signals, track student progress over time, and provide class-wide analytics. Account information is used to authenticate you, manage your subscription, and send service-related communications such as password resets and weekly summaries you opt into.
To grade essays, GradeScout sends the essay text and images you submit to trusted AI providers. These providers process the content solely to return grading and analysis results and do not use your data to train their models. Payment processing is handled by Wix Payments and Stripe, each governed by their own privacy policies.
Your essays, rubrics, and student records remain in your account for as long as you use GradeScout. You can delete individual essays, entire student files, or your rubrics at any time from within the app. When you delete data, it is removed from your active workspace.
We protect your data with industry-standard measures including encrypted transit (HTTPS), access controls, and isolated per-account storage. Only you can access your own essays and student data; administrators of the platform may access account data solely to operate or support the service.
GradeScout is designed for use by teachers and schools. Student content is submitted by the teacher, not the student. We encourage educators to follow their school or district's policies regarding parental consent and data handling for minors, and we minimize student identifying details by defaulting to initials in shared views.
You can edit your account details, export or delete your essays and student files, and cancel your subscription at any time. To request deletion of your entire account, contact us using the Contact page.
